CUSP workshop on data needs for the human health risk assessment of MNPs
The third public CUSP workshop within the series on health risk assessment of micro- and nanoplastics will take place on April 21, 2023. The session will feature expert presentations and discussions focusing on data needs, availability, reuse, and gaps for MNP-risk-related tools.
The final CUSP workshop within the series on ‘Health risk assessment of micro- and nanoplastics’ is being held on Friday, April 21st, 2023, 09:00-13:30 CEST and is organised by the CUSPWorking Group on Risk Assessment (WG5)in collaboration with thePlasticsFatEproject.
After a brief review of the results of the first and second workshops in terms of data needs, contributions from the different CUSP projects will describe the types of data needed for tools to characterize MNP risks. We will attempt to capture the specific requirements and have a structured discussion to determine if the tools are compatible with the data produced or if there are gaps.
The second part of the workshop will review the need for data to sometimes be first processed before it can be used in the tools as well as the role of the quality of the source studies. A third presentation in this session will give an introduction to possible data sources and the available data types and definitions.
This workshop is part of a three-part series on the human risk assessment of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) organised by CUSP Working Group on Risk Assessment (WG5) and CUSP member projects. The first workshopin this three-part series, organized by WG5 andPlasticHealon February 7th, focused on regulatory insights and knowledge gaps. Thesecond workshopwithin the series was held on March 14thand focused on risk assessment frameworks. It was organized by WG5 andPOLYRISK.
