Imptox at FoodMicro Latino 2025 in Brazil: Bridging Sustainability and Food Safety
Join us in October 2025 in Aracajú, Brazil, for the first Latino edition of the acclaimed ICFMH FoodMicro®️ Congress.
For the first time in its history, the renowned FoodMicro®️ conference steps outside Europe with FoodMicro®️ Latino 2025, a satellite event organized in conjunction with the 33rd Brazilian Congress of Microbiology. Taking place from October 25–28, 2025, in Aracajú, Brazil, this event is organized by the Brazilian Association for Food Protection (BRAFP) under the theme “Sustainability & Food Safety.”
Imptox will be represented by Prof. Andreja Rajkovic, ICMFH president and researcher at Ghent University, who will deliver a lecture titled “The Role of Microplastics and Nanoplastics in Food Safety.” His presentation will explore how micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) are becoming an invisible but urgent food safety issue, especially in the face of climate change and environmental pollution.
FoodMicro®️: A Global Platform for Food Microbiology and Hygiene
Since its inception, FoodMicro®️, organized biannually by the International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH), has been a leading global forum for advancing food microbiology research. While typically held in Europe, FoodMicro®️ Latino is a unique satellite event reflecting a growing emphasis on global challenges like food security, sustainability, and the impacts of climate change.
The Brazilian edition will feature cutting-edge topics, including:
- The impacts of microplastics on health and food safety.
- The role of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
- Advances in bacterial virulence and toxin production.
